Mohit Suri’s track record as a director has been excellent, so obviously when he comes to Malang, his expectations are equally good. In this film of Mohit, you get strong performance, but in the story there is a mixture of many of his films.
The story of the film follows Advaita (Aditya Roy Kapur) who molests the other prisoners in the jail. He leaves from jail and calls police officer Anjani Agashe and tells him that he has to report a murder, which is going to happen. After that, the process of dreadful killing of the policemen begins. Meanwhile the story also goes into flashbacks, where Advaita met hippie type girl Sara (Disha Patni) in an Goa Adventure adventure. Mastamoula from London teaches Sarah Advaita how to live. Both are happy with each other, then a storm comes in their life.
Here, the process of killing of policemen in the present has not stopped. Michael Rodrigues (Kunal Khemu) is also involved with Anjani to solve the case of serial murders of his fellow policemen. Why is Advaita killing policemen? To know this, you have to watch the film.
Mohit Suri as a director specializes in such thriller films. This is the reason that the story begins in a thrilling style, but the scenes of flashbacks in the film prove to be an interruption in the pace of the thriller. As the story progresses, you begin to see glimpses of ‘Ek Villain’ and ‘Murder’. The story picks up after the interval, but then becomes predictable. Mohit has taken Cinematic Liberty in many places. The climax is not surprising though pleasant. Malang’s title track has become effective in the music of Ved Sharma. It is ranked 6th in Radio Mirchi’s Top Twenty. Vikas Sivaraman’s cinematography adds to the thrill. Raju Singh’s background score is tremendous.
Every artist in the film has given memorable performance. Aditya Roy Kapur as Advaita has proved himself in action-emotion and romance. The transformation of his body and body language in the film is capable-a-compliment. Disha Patni is very glamorous and beautiful. The emotional and romantic scenes between Aditya and Disha have become good. Anil Kapoor has acted brilliantly as a bad cop. In the role of the police officer of drudgery etc. and obeying his rules and regulations, Anil is in every way. Kunal Khemu as Michael has made a different character memorable on screen. His character is at the center of the film and Kunal has proved that whenever he is given complex roles, he will be able to do justice. Eli Avram is doing well. The collaborative cast suits the subject.
Those who are fond of action-thriller films and fans of Aditya-Anil can definitely see this film.
