In the MyJio app, this UPI feature is currently visible to a select few users. Recently, news was revealed that Jio is talking to Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI Bank to facilitate UPI payment on its platform.
According to a media report surfaced about this UPI feature Phi Jio in MyJio app, some selected My Jio app users have got UPI payment support. The company seems to be gearing up to compete with Google Pay and WhatsApp, which has made its place in the market with this UPI feature. The report states that the company has introduced the UPI payment option in the MyJio app and is currently available only to users who have a virtual payment address (VPA) with the @Jio UPI handle.
Recently, news came that Jio is talking to Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI Bank to facilitate UPI payment on its platform. In Entrackr’s report, it has been claimed that select users are seeing the option of UPI payment in MyJio app.
The UPI option is seen inside the app in a screenshot shared by the website. Apart from this option in the app, JioSaavn, JioCinema and JioEngage etc. other services of Jio have also been seen.
The report further states that upon registration, users will get a VPA with @Jio UPI handle. Seeing in the screenshot, it shows that the option to enter bank account number is also coming in the app to link this UPI ID to the bank. In order to get the UPI PIN, information has also been asked from the users like mobile number, debit card number, linked to their bank account.
This process matches well with other UPI payment apps like Google Pay, Paytm and WhatsApp. Gadgets 360 does not confirm this news and Jio has also been contacted in connection with this news, but no information has been provided by the company so far.
