Instagram was earlier caught up in a database leak case in May 2019. In May 2019, personal data of crores of celebrities and bloggers was opened as a large database.
Social Captain, a service that has increased the followers of users on the social media platform Instagram, has leaked thousands of users’ username and password to hackers. If you have also called the social captain to increase the followers of your account, then be careful because it may happen that now you too can be a victim of hackers.
A report by TechCrunch reported that Social Captain had stored the password of the users’ Instagram account in an unsafe plaintext. A loophole in the website allows any person to enter the profile of any social captain user without log-in details.
“A security researcher alerted TechCrunch that the loophole in the Social Captain’s website has opened up a spreadsheet of accounts of about 10,000 users to hackers. 70 of these accounts belong to premium users of the social media booting platform. On this, the Social Captain has said that the company has fixed this flaw.
This Instagram has said that the social captain has improperly broken the terms of service of the company by storing logged-in information of the users. Apart from this, Instagram has also said that the company is investigating it and appropriate action will be taken on it.
Earlier in May 2019, Instagram itself got caught in the case of database leaks. In May 2019, personal data of crores of celebrities and bloggers was opened as a large database. This database included personal data of 490 million people — believe it.
